Xerox Acquires Consilience Software, Inc., Bringing Analytics to Case Management

NORWALK, Conn. — Xerox (NYSE: XRX) today announced its acquisition of Consilience Software, Inc., an Austin-based company providing case management and workflow automation software to the public sector.

Consilience’s proprietary Maven Case Management System uses data and process analytics to help government agencies extract more value from their information. The intelligent case management system automates workflows for document- and labor-intensive processes and integrates previously siloed legacy systems for accelerated decision making. Maven can improve agency efficiency with more accurate planning, improved reporting and program evaluation, and enhanced fraud detection and prevention.

As a web-based, cloud-capable platform Maven supports state and local government agencies in 11 U.S. states, seven U.S. cities and two states in Australia. While continuing to grow Consilience’s strong presence in the public health, labor and human services domains, Xerox also will offer Maven as an integrated part of its child support and government benefit disbursement services.

“Governments are under constant pressure to do more with less. In Maven, Consilience has a proven innovative, scalable solution that helps agencies recognize cost savings while significantly enhancing delivery of service to constituents,” said Nancy Collins, group president, Xerox State Enterprise Solutions. “The company’s case management system strengthens Xerox’s suite of offerings for addressing the pent-up demand for modernizing government.”

Using its data-based insights and decision-support rules, Maven can automate an entire case lifecycle, from initiation through reporting, thanks to its data collection, assessment, routing, and reporting capabilities. Maven’s ease of configuration also allows government agencies to rapidly adapt to legislative, policy or other changes.

“Case management is highly complex, and, if not handled well, it can cost disproportionate tax dollars. Consilience has a strong platform that supports the comprehensive requirements for case management in government agencies,” said Consilience Founder and Executive Vice President Joy Alamgir. “By joining Xerox, Consilience and our clients will benefit from the global company’s strong legacy of research and development, its powerful brand and its market-leading presence in state and local government services.”

The Consilience management team and its 40 employees will remain with the company, with operations continuing in its Austin, Tex., and Waltham, Mass., offices.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
