MELVILLE, N.Y., March 16, 2015 - Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today introduced the imageFORMULA P-208II Scan-tini personal document scanner, the latest addition to Canon's highly successful line of Scan-tini portable document scanners.
Ideal for stationary users and "road warriors" in professional services, financial services, healthcare and other areas, the P-208II scanner provides general purpose scanning of various items, including receipts, business cards, photographs, bills, contracts, reports, letters and plastic cards. The scanner can be moved from location to location as easily as it moves paper-based information to Windows® and Mac® devices.
"Business today is no longer conducted exclusively from the workplace. Professionals must be able to maintain organization and productivity while in the office and on-the-go," said Anne Valaitis, director of Image Scanning Trends and Professional & Managed Print Services Consulting Services at InfoTrends. "We are excited to see Canon's addition of the imageFORMULA P-208II scanner to their comprehensive lineup."
Powered by a single USB cable when connected to a computer, the P-208II scanner helps to reduce cable clutter and to allow for a quick scanning process. Users can benefit from its small, lightweight size and flexibility to scan items with ease, while fitting into a briefcase or bag for easy portability.
Upon connecting to a computer, the P-208II scanner allows users to "Plug-and-Scan," without installing drivers or applications. Additionally, a single click can automatically adjust multiple feature settings to easily deliver the P-208II's highest quality image possible. The bundled Canon CaptureOnTouch software enables users to configure routine scanning jobs for quick and easy one-touch access. It can also send scanned images directly to third-party cloud applications, such as Evernote®, Microsoft® SharePoint®, Google Drive™, SugarSync®, OneDrive™, and Dropbox®. This scanner is also bundled with ISIS® and TWAIN drivers for easy integration with third-party capture or content management systems.
The P-208II scanner is capable of scanning both sides of an item at the same time, in color or in black and white, as well as a wide variety of document types, including thick or thin documents, plastic or embossed cards, and long documents. An optional wireless capability broadens connectivity options. When combined with the optional WU10 Wireless Adapter and Battery Pack, sold separately, the scanner not only works wirelessly in Windows and Mac environments, but also with iPad®, iPhone®, iPod touch® and Android™ mobile digital devices using the free downloadable Canon CaptureOnTouch Mobile app.
For outstanding image quality, the P-208II scanner includes features such as text enhancement to help improve text legibility of hard-to-scan documents. When scanning mixed batches of documents and photographs, the scanner can automatically adjust the resolution to help improve image quality and reduce file size. Other features include the ability to optimize images of scanned photographs, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to help convert paper-based documents into a searchable text document that can be easily stored and shared.
As an ENERGYSTAR® partner, Canon U.S.A. has qualified the P-208II scanner as meeting the ENERGY STAR energy efficiency criteria through an EPA recognized certification body. Additionally, the P-208II complies with both the EU RoHS and WEEE directives for the reduction of hazardous substances and waste products.
"Ensuring organization and productivity at home, in the office and on-the-go is made easier with Canon's ultra-portable P-208II Scan-tini. Individuals can now scan and convert documents into digital information from nearly anywhere," said Junichi Yoshitake, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A.
